The Look
Strephon kissed me in the spring,
Robin in the fall,
But Colin only looked at meA
nd never kissed at all.
Strephon's kiss was lost in jest,
Strephon's kiss was lost in jest,
Robin's lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day.

The Look is a poem written by Sara Teasdale. It is about a woman who fell in love with Stephon, Robin and Colin. And with just a look from one of them, she was haunted all day. Why I came up with such a conclusion? I will explain to you what the poem is all about.
In the first stanza, it shows how the speaker fell in love thrice. First was with Stephon, then with Robin and lastly with Colin. Stephon and Robin kissed the speaker while Colin did not. He just looked at her and never kissed at all.
“Strephon's kiss was lost in jest,Robin's lost in play”. I think this line means that a kiss can be one of those things that can be remembered but as time goes by, it will be erased little by little especially when the kiss was just for fun and lust. Kiss can never leave atrace in our hearts if we cannot feel sincerity of the person who gave the kiss.
But the kiss in Colin's eyesHaunts me night and day. It means that Colin look was really something for the speaker. She was indeed captured by how Colin looked at her.
The poem tells us that the eyes are the windows of our heart. The sinceruty of a person cn be seen through his or her eyes. Eyes sees the person in and out. The poem also differentiates a kiss from a look. That a look can capture moments of our lives and how it leaves a mark in our hearts in amy ways.
Sara Teasdale’s poem tells us how a look can struck our heart. Because of just alook, one may not be able to sleep well because of too much thinking of what the person
I think that would be all.
