KYSD 2007

The University of the Philippines High School has this unique activity or program wherein the students would substitute the teachers, faculty, and staff in their won respective responsibilities for 3 days. We call it Know Your School Day more popularly known as KYSD. KYSD is also the time when our teachers get some rest from all those lesson plans. I think KYSD is one of the most awaited events of students, faculty, as well as the staff. It is fun to see my fellow students doing the jobs of a principal, assistant principal, PED chairperson, clerk, guidance counselor and teachers.

Since in my first year stay in UP High, I never tried teaching because I have always experienced on being taught by students. I did not care to apply because I doubt on my capabilities. And also, I do not want to be pressured with the big responsibility tasked on me. Just imagine yourself that you need to teach well for your classmates to let them really learn and understand the lesson. I did not have regrets being just student instead of a student teacher because I also had fun.

Being taught by students has always been fun and exciting experience for me. I enjoyed watching and listening to my classmates who were then my teachers. I find it cute seeing them as our teachers. And also, I was not afraid to participate in class discussion because I just thought of that they were still my classmates. I really admire my classmates who applied for a certain position because they were truly brave enough to face such challenge. The nice thing is that I surely did learn something from them. I was amazed with my classmate teachers because they were able to find ways and teaching techniques, which did not make us bored.

I was just happy of being a student because I do not have to worry on something. Even if I cannot have extra points for just being a student, it was just fine for me. What’s important is that I learned, enjoy and had fun.
The KYSD 2007 was indeed a success. The students enjoyed as well as the faculty and staff. This was one of the memorable events that happened in UP High.
